From Gardermoen Airport, there’s a nice cycling path to the town Jessheim. For the return journey, take the gravel road passing by the picturesque Ljøgodttjern and the historic and mysterious Rakni Mound.
The cycle path guides you safely out of the airport area and is well signposted all the way to Jessheim. It’s an asphalted route with gentle inclines, making it easy and enjoyable to cycle. Despite running parallel to the road, there are scenic stretches offering views of the open landscape.
In Jessheim, there are restaurants, cafes, and shops available. If you´re heading for the National Cycle Route 7 – the Pilgrim Route, you will find the track in Jessheim.
For the return journey, you will partly cycle along charming gravel roads, passing by Ljøgodttjern, where there are opportunities for a swim. Close by, you will find The Rakni Mound, an ancient burial site dated back to the year 550. It is the largest man-made mound in Northern Europe and can tell a truly unique story about the Migration Period in Europe. Many myths and theories are associated with the mysterious Rakni Mound, and several excavations have been conducted. Today, it is a popular destination for people of all ages, with charming lawns and benches.
