The Fjord, The Mountains and Trollstigen

Åndalsnes sits at the foot of one of Norway’s most iconic cycling climbs – Trollstigen (the Troll Path), with 11 tight hairpin bends leading up the mountain. An e-bike is absolutely acceptable here.

Arriving on the Rauma Railway gives you a sense of what awaits: the landscape coils along the river, lush and steep, with the towering Trollveggen cliff rising above the valley. Down by the fjord, Åndalsnes is surrounded by sharp, dramatic peaks.

From here, you can start longer cycle routes over the mountains toward Geiranger or follow the coast toward the Atlantic Road.

It’s also easy to combine your stay with hiking, including the popular viewpoint Rampestreken, reachable on foot or by taking the gondola part of the way up.
