Experience one of Norway’s most scenic gravel cycling adventures on a sporty long weekend through mountain landscapes and high pastures. Riding on quiet gravel roads with luggage transport included, this tour combines long days in the saddle with spectacular scenery and rewarding climbs.

The route takes you from the forests around Lemonsjøen through the heart of Valdres, following some of the finest gravel roads in the country. Along the way, you cross Lake Bygdin by boat, surrounded by the dramatic peaks of Jotunheimen National Park, before continuing through open mountain terrain and traditional summer farming areas.

Designed for active cyclists who want to experience the highlights of this legendary route in a shorter time, the tour covers more than 200 km of varied and memorable riding. Expect breathtaking views, smooth gravel roads and an unforgettable journey through some of Norway’s most beautiful mountain scenery.

Day 1 - Oslo to Lemonsjøen

On the first day of this once-in-a-lifetime trip, you will enjoy a scenic bus journey from the hustle and bustle of Oslo to the quiet, rural Valdres region. Your first night will be spent at Lemonsjøen Mountain Lodge, which is a charming cabin located in Jotunheimen national Park, overlooking the beautiful Lemonsjø lake.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a serene countryside journey as you pass through small towns, lakes and fields. As you venture further into the country, the distant mountains will begin to take shape, and before you know it, you'll find yourself climbing steep roads that lead you straight into the national park. The coach is fully equipped with adjustable seats, free WiFi, USB charging ports, and on-board toilet facilities for your comfort and convenience.

Lemonsjø Mountain Lodge is a typical little cabin in Jotunheimen National Park. It is located next to Lemonsjø Lake. Many popular trails run via Lemonsjø and the friendly hosts accommodate both hikers and cyclists during the popular summer months.

Day 2 - Lemonsjøen to Bygdin

On your first day, you cycle on a gravel road through the wooded valley of Murudalen and along mesmerizing rivers until you arrive above the treeline. Here you follow the beautiful “Jotunheimvegen” offering you stunning views. You cycle along Vinstra lake while you can see the mountains of Jotunheimen National Park in the horizon.

Bygdin Høifieldhotel has a long tradition of welcoming active travellers exploring Jotunheimen. Although many rooms have been renovated, the hotel still offers a charming historical atmosphere. The food is often a highlight of the stay, with delicious dinners prepared from local ingredients and served with care.

Day 3 - Mini Cruise Adventure and cycling from Eidsbugarden to Gomobu

Today is quite a tough day on the saddle but you get rewarded with spectacular views and five-star gravel roads. You will experience a mini cruise with the historic boat M/B Bitihorn, which will take you from Bygdin to Eidsbugarden with a stop at Torfinnsbu. The scenic boat journey offers breathtaking views of the natural landscape in Jotunheimen from the unique vantage point of the Bygdin lake. After reaching Eidsbugarden, you follow first a beautiful gravel road along Tyin lake before getting some kilometres with a mix of asphalt and gravel until Ryfoss. From here, you start climbing to Syndin plateau which might be the most challenging leg of the Mjølkevegen route. At the top, some amazing gravel roads awaits you before ending the day in Gomobu, where the after bike awaits you. If it’s nice weather, the sun on the terrace.

Known for its cozy atmosphere and friendly hosts, Gomobu is a welcoming mountain lodge on the edge of Valdresfjellet. The lodge serves tasty, locally sourced food that reflects the region’s traditions and flavours. Guests can choose from a variety of accommodation options, including comfortable modern rooms in the main lodge and fully equipped cabins suitable for families and groups.

Day 4 - Gomobu to Fagernes

Enjoy the last short trip on the bike with a panoramic ride over the rolling and rural landscape of Vaset, before cycling down to Fagernes. The route goes mainly downhill and has some short legs that are a bit steep. Depending on the time that you have before your bus back, it is possible to choose a shorter and faster route to Fagernes.

Bus transport back to Oslo.
