Numedal is the valley in Norway that has the most preserved buildings from the Middle Ages, and has a total of four well-preserved stave churches. Take the opportunity to take a closer look at these. Numedalslågen is Norway’s third longest river, and has meant a lot to all the municipalities along the river from the mountains to the sea. Veggli Vertshus is close to Vegglifjell, the gateway to Hardangervidda and Trillemarka-Rollagsfjell which is a protected area twith an unique nature. Ever since the first people inhabited Hardangervidda, Numedal has been one of the main transport routes from west to east. Wayfarers were then as now an important part of daily life.
