This cycling tour takes you on a varied loop through historic sites and living cultural landscapes — from the Norwegian border town of Halden to the Swedish coastal town of Strømstad, and back again.
The roundtrip offers a rich blend of nature, quiet roads, busy roads, and historical landmarks. You´ll get coastal views, crossing of the old Svinesund Bridge, and peaceful riding past the fjord at Dynekilen. After a stay in the lively harbor town of Strømstad, day two takes you back through forest trails and quiet farmland. The route ends with scenic views of Fredriksten Fortress — a fitting finale to a varied and rewarding tour. You’ll experience a mix of roads: stretches with some traffic, quiet country lanes with mixed surfaces, and solid gravel tracks through the forest. This route is not an official cycle route and it´s not signposted. It has been tested by Norway by Bike 2025.
