This part of the coastal route is starting in charming Egersund before you qickly enter the old railtrack of Jærbanen. It has been transformed to a gravel leasure path that runs on both sides of the existing railtrack, and with some great views over the coast. There´s plenty of benches to take a rest.
The next section is passing over the highlands following the ancient main road and it´s really beautiful and quiet. No cars, just you and the birds and the sheeps. You´ll probably need to get off your bike several times because the hills are very steep up and down. Coming down from the mountains to the seaside on the other side is great fun.
From here it´s ocean, beaches, sky and farmland. Add on a lot of historical buildings, the classical Jæren stone fences, museums and lighthouse and you will have to make a lot of stops just to enjoy the views. Surfers is also a very common sight, as this beaches are world famous for the great waves. Several small places offers accommodation and hotels is located in the town Bryne – a short detour from the main route.
