From Storjord the route quickly leaves the E6 behind at Junkerdal and begin a 15 km climb along national road 77/95 towards the Swedish border. The first 2.7 km of this ascent, on an old national road closed to motorized traffic, feature an average gradient of 5.8%. The climb culminates at the route’s highest point, 740 meters above sea level, before descending to Vuoggatjålme.
The final stretch to Camp Vuoggatjålme, situated at 481 meters above sea level, offers a stunning finale to the day. This area, still north of the Arctic Circle, enjoys 24-hour sunlight during the summer months. The camp provides a warm welcome with accommodation, food, and a place to rest after a day on the bike. Given the limited opportunities for resupply along the way, cyclists are advised to carry sufficient provisions. The route rewards cyclists with an unforgettable experience through some of Scandinavia’s most magnificent natural scenery.
