You cycle through beautiful cultural landscapes with farms, fields and animals along the route. Expect peaceful small roads with little traffic.
Leaving Kongsberg through the small roads and wooden houses west of the waterfall is a nice start of the day. The Silver Mines just outside Kongsberg is just a short detour away, and here you can join guided tours deep into the mountain. Check for opening hours.
Now a calm day awaits with lush rural cycling. On the road you will see farms, fields, meadows and many rivers trickle past the route. It´s a rolling landscape and you´ll get a nice overview several places. As a cyclist, you will also appreciate the many peaceful small roads with little traffic. At Hvittingfoss it´s possible to get some snack at the local fast food restaurant, and you´ll also find a grocery store here.
The route crosses the river Numedalslågen several times during the day, and although you don´t see the waterway all the time, it´s never far away. This is Norway´s third longest river, and fishing for salmon is a common sight, especially at Brufoss. In summertime, the kiosk here is open for visitors.
