The adventure continues towards Western Norway!

From Vatnahalsen, cycle just over 1 km to Myrdal station. Remember to inform the conductor at Myrdal that you plan to get off with your bike at Upsete, as not all train cars can accommodate bicycles. The train ride only takes 5 minutes. Crossing the mountain by bike is not an option, as it would require carrying your bike through very steep and rugged terrain.

Now, an incredible stretch awaits. The landscape is straight out of The Lord of the Rings, with waterfalls, mountains, rivers, forests, valleys, and lush greenery. You’ll follow the river almost the entire way, passing rafters and kayakers enjoying the rapids. The route winds along narrow roads, starting as gravel. There’s little car traffic here, although it increases further along when the road turns to asphalt. You’ll likely meet other cyclists along the way.

Mjølnefjell offers accommodations and food during the summer season. Long stretches of the route allow for smooth and steady downhill cycling. In Vossavangen, you’ll arrive in the charming village by Vangsvatnet, where you’ll find many hotels, restaurants, and outdoor activities. Voss is famous for its Extreme Sports Week (Ekstremsportveko), and it’s not uncommon to see groups of skydivers descending from the skies. With the gondola, you can reach Hangurstoppen at 820 meters above sea level.
