The journey takes you to some of Norway’s most spectacular destinations. You’ll tackle the legendary Lysebotn climb, with its 27 hairpin bends and awe-inspiring views, and ride through Gloppedalsura, Northern Europe’s largest boulder field – a true geological wonder. The route also showcases the stunning Jæren shoreline, with its long white beaches and expansive farmland, offering a unique perspective of the region’s coastal beauty.
This tour is designed for experienced cyclists who relish long rides and challenging climbs. You should be comfortable cycling up to 120 km per day and ready to hit the saddle again the following morning for another exhilarating ride. Routes typically range from 50-80 km per day across hilly terrain, with repeat climbs and optional longer routes available. Expect to spend 3-4 hours per day on the bike, savoring the countryside’s beauty and tackling its varied terrain. For those interested, select routes are also suitable for e-bikes. You can also rent an e-bike only to cycle up the hill in Lysebotn and switch back to a regular bike at the top.
You ride on a Fenix SLiC – the culmination of three generations of endurance bikes, representing a continuous evolution. Featuring fully concealed cables, disc brakes, and 11-speed gearing, it offers a comfortable ride with more aggressive handling compared to our standard option.
Day 1 - Individual Arrival to Stavanger - Meet the Guides

We will meet at Kronen Gaard Hotel at 6:00 PM for a dinner and welcome evening. During the evening, you'll receive an overview of the itinerary for the upcoming days, as well as an introduction to the guides and equipment. Bike fitting will be available as needed and can be arranged during this time.
The Kronen Gaard Hotel, a charming yellow Swiss-style villa. Nestled behind the majestic weeping beech tree, planted in 1907, the hotel creates a stunning first impression as you arrive in the courtyard. It offers elegant and traditional accommodations amidst the picturesque countryside of Sandnes, while preserving the charm of its historic past.
Day 2 - Welcome to the Fjords

After a hearty breakfast, we load our luggage onto the support vehicle and depart from the hotel. Today's cycling route has two segments: Kronen Gaard Hotel to Lauvvik ferry dock, and Lysebotn to Sirdal Høyfjellshotell. The ride to Lauvvik features gently rolling terrain on quiet roads, offering a glimpse of the challenges to come. From Lauvvik, enjoy a scenic ferry ride through Lysefjorden, passing iconic landmarks like Preikestolen, Flørli, and the majestic Kjerag.
From Lysebotn, the real climb begins. After a brief flat stretch, we tackle 27 hairpin bends with an average incline of 10% and a maximum of 15%. While challenging, the road's design makes it manageable. Cyclists will pass through a tunnel after the second hairpin, so lights are recommended. Rental bikes are equipped with lights, and extras can be borrowed from the support vehicle.
At Øygårdstøl, 640 meters above sea level, we’ll pause to refill water bottles, enjoy the view, and possibly snack before continuing to the summit at 932 meters. From there, it's a mostly downhill ride to Sirdal Høyfjellshotell. Upon arrival, relax as the guides prepare for the next day. In the evening, we’ll gather at the firehouse behind the hotel for a memorable dinner featuring local culinary delights - a highlight of the trip!
Day 3 - From the mountain to the North Sea

Today is the longest ride of our journey. We start in the upper part of Sirdalen, cycling to Sinnes and onward past Valevatn towards Byrkjedalstunet, our first stop of the day. Here, we’ll enjoy "lapper," a must-try treat for cyclists passing through this charming spot.
The route then leads us through Gloppedalsura, Northern Europe’s largest boulder field, before continuing past Indre and Ytre Vinjevatn to Bjerkreim. At Myksvoll Microbrewery, we’ll pause for freshly roasted coffee paired with a light snack. The final stretch takes us to Grand Hotel Egersund, where we’ll stay for the next two nights. This stage transitions from the high mountains inland to the rolling coastal terrain of southern Norway. The varied landscapes along the way are breathtaking, and one of the biggest challenges will be staying focused on the road with so much to see.
Upon arrival in Egersund, we’ll be warmly welcomed at the charming Grand Hotel Egersund. After settling in, we’ll gather in the evening for a delightful dinner, accompanied by a presentation of highlights from the day’s adventures. We’ll also offer optional activities, including a hike to Trollpikken, a visit to the Fayancemuseum, or a tour of Berentsens Brewery (established in 1895), where you can sample locally crafted beer, whisky, gin, or aquavit.
Day 4 - Roundtrip in the Magma UNESCO Geopark

Today’s adventure takes us to Jøssingfjord, home to the unique Helleren. We’ll start cycling from Egersund, following Rv44 via Hauge i Dalane to Jøssingfjord. Our visit includes a stop at the Science Museum and a guided tour of Helleren, known not only for "The House Under the Rock" but also for its rich history. Here, we’ll learn about how Norwegians once lived in this remote area and its significance during World War II, particularly the attack on the German warship Altmark.
From Jøssingfjord, we cycle back towards Hauge i Dalane and take a scenic country road leading to the charming Sogndalstrand. Here, we’ll pause for lunch at the cultural hotel. Afterward, we continue our journey through Rekefjord, returning to Egersund. The entire day’s ride takes us through the remarkable Magma UNESCO Global Geopark, showcasing incredible landscapes shaped by geological history.
In the afternoon and evening, there’s time to explore the streets of Egersund, perhaps indulge in some shopping, or simply enjoy the local atmosphere. As the evening sets in, we’ll gather for a delightful dinner, complemented by a photo presentation of today’s highlights. Tomorrow, we’ll leave Egersund and cycle toward Stavanger.
Day 5 - The North Sea Route

Today, our journey follows the captivating coastline from Egersund, passing through the charming villages of Hellvik, Sirevåg, and Brusand. This area is truly one of a kind, with landscapes unlike anywhere else in Norway. Our first stop is at the renowned art and culture center, Hå Gamle Prestegard, a former vicarage and a must-visit destination in Jæren. Here, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch in a tranquil and inspiring setting.
Continuing along the coastal route towards Sola, we’ll encounter Norway’s longest stretches of white sandy beaches and expansive flatlands dotted with farms - a true treasure trove of local culture and culinary delights. With any luck, we’ll have the wind at our backs, but even if the conditions are challenging, the route remains manageable with only minimal hills.
For tonight, we’ll stay at the historic Sola Strand Hotel, renowned for its relaxing spa facilities - the perfect way to unwind after a rewarding day of cycling. In the evening, we’ll gather for a delightful dinner, featuring a selection of photos from the day’s adventures. For those seeking more activity, we offer optional experiences such as a hike along Sola Beach or water-based activities like kiteboarding, surfing, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding for an exhilarating seaside adventure.
Day 6 - The Last Lap

Today, we’ll cycle through urban areas rich in history and sights. Our day begins with a short visit to Sola Ruinkirke, located near our hotel. From there, we’ll ride past Risavika and Tananger Port, key hubs for Stavanger’s oil and gas activities. Following bike paths and roads, we’ll make our way to Tungenes Lighthouse before heading towards Stavanger city center and Old Stavanger, home to Northern Europe’s best-preserved wooden house settlement.
Our route takes us through Vågen and Storhaug before reaching Gandsfjorden and Jåttåvågen, where we’ll learn about the origins of Norway’s oil adventure. Did you know Stavanger boasts Norway’s only cycle highway? Naturally, we’ll include this much-talked-about route in our journey, with a detour into Sørmarka to tackle Grisabakken, a climb made famous by the Tour of Norway, where some of the world’s best cyclists compete each year.
After a photo stop at Ullandhaugtårnet, we’ll continue to Hafrsfjord and the iconic Swords in Rock monument, where we’ll hear the story of the Battle of Hafrsfjord in the late 800s. Our day concludes back in Stavanger city center, where we’ll check in at the elegant Victoria Hotel for a farewell dinner and final evening of the program.
