The Classic Fjord Tour is a road biking route starting on the northwestern coast of Fjord Norway. You will experience a mountain region where the road leads to the famous Trollstigen and Geiranger and hidden gems in the Hjørundfjord. The Classic Fjord Tour is filled with contrasts, from the sea breeze nipping at you while crossing windblown islands by bridge, to the warm sun of lush green fjord valleys and crisp air of heather-clad mountains.
You’ll spend your nights in a variety of unique accommodations, ranging from authentic fisherman’s cabins and old trading posts to luxurious traditional hotels. The traditional farmer and fisherman’s dishes served throughout the tour use fresh ingredients from the surrounding fjords and fields, ensuring that you stay energized for the adventure ahead.
This tour is ideal for active individuals with biking experience who want to test their skills on challenging hairpin bends and steep mountain roads. It’s also perfect for experienced bikers seeking a fresh and unique adventure. All accommodation is based on double occupancy. If you require a single room, there may be an additional charge. You can rent a bike that are specially selected for the trip.
Day 1 - Welcome to Ålesund - Meeting the Guides

On this first evening we will all meet around 18.00 (depending of arrival time) in the center in Ålesund. On the agenda this evening is bike fitting, presentation of the group, guides and routes before the group enjoy some local food and a three course dinner at BRO.

Day 2 - Arrival to Håholmen Sea Cottages, Averøy

After a great breakfast at Brosundet Hotel there is a quick transfer (the only one of the week) toward Molde where you will start the first stage and get those bikes out :) This first ride is a perfect warmup from Molde to Håholmen with 80 km cycling along the fjord and the Atlantic.
The hotel is an original cluster of 25 buildings that form a living museum of coastal life. In addition to hotel rooms, you'll find a restaurant, pub, meeting rooms, and a museum. As you explore the different buildings, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time to a vibrant fishermen's community of old.
In the evening, we'll gather for dinner and a presentation of the upcoming trip. Håholmen is known for its exquisite seafood dishes, prepared with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and traditional recipes. The restaurant's extensive wine list perfectly complements the menu. During the dinner, our guide will introduce you to the route and showcase the beautiful mountain roads you'll explore over the next 6 days.

Day 3 - Håholmen to Angvika via the Atlantic Road

Get ready for a spectacular ride as we leave Håholmen and head towards the famous Atlantic Road. This architectural masterpiece spans eight bridges connecting the many islands with the mainland, and offers breathtaking views of the rugged coastline. The Atlantic Road twists and bends like the giant sea serpent of old Norse tales, a true wonder of engineering that provides an unforgettable biking experience.
Continuing on Route 666, we'll follow the Kvernesfjorden to Angvika, where we'll arrive at our next accommodation around 4:00 pm. Angvik Gamle Handelssted is a little gem located close to Tingvoll Fjord in the Nordmøre region. The hotel features 37 rooms and boasts a unique blend of exclusivity and homely atmosphere.
Take some time to relax and rejuvenate at the hotel's spa, or go for a refreshing swim in the fjord before dinner. The hotel's five-course inspiration menu is served in Bøkkerstua and features local dishes made from the freshest ingredients. The chef's choice of the evening will be presented at 7:30 pm, and you can look forward to an unforgettable dining experience with the gentle sound of waves and ocean breezes as your backdrop. Day 4 - Angvika to Åndalsnes

Get ready for another exciting day of cycling as you leave Angvika early in the morning. The next leg of the journey takes you on Route 666 to Eresfjord, and over the Vistdalsheia plateau at an elevation of 555 meters above sea level, before reaching the charming village of Åndalsnes.
Located between the majestic mountains and the glistening fjords, Åndalsnes is a popular base for mountaineers and cyclists from all over the world who come here to explore the wild and untamed nature. Upon arriving at Grand Bellevue by Classic Norway, you can unwind and relax in the comfortable rooms and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and fjords.

Day 5 - Trolls and Kayaking (Åndalsnes to Valldal)

From Åndalsnes, bike along the famous road for 51 km to reach Valldal on the other side of the mountain. A challenging climb awaits, but the view from the top of the 705-meter-high Trollstigen road is worth it. From the viewpoint, you can see the masterfully structured hairpin bends that make it possible to climb the steep mountainsides. After the climb, enjoy a mostly flat and downhill ride to the charming village of Valldal.
Arrive at Valldal Fjordhotel at around 12:00 pm. The hotel is perfectly situated between two of Norway’s most famous tourist destinations, Geiranger and Trollstigen, with stunning views of Norddalsfjord and Syltefjellet. After a nice lunch and some rest, explore the fjord from the water on a stunning kayak tour from Fjøra to Tafjord. Return to the hotel for dinner and a good night's sleep before the next day's adventure.

Day 6 - Fjords and Valleys (Valldal-Geiranger-Dalsnibba-Geiranger)

Departing from peaceful Valldal, your next destination is Geiranger via a ferry crossing to Eidsdal and a ride on a stunning mountain road. Don't miss a stop at the Ørnesvingen viewpoint to capture the perfect photo of the UNESCO World Heritage fjord landscape on your way down the hairpin bends. After a rest in the village, challenge yourself with a climb to the glass viewing platform of Dalsnibba at 1500 masl for a breathtaking view. Then enjoy a long downhill back via a beautiful biking road to Geiranger and Hotel Utsikten, the topmost hotel in Geiranger with incredible views. Established in 1893, the hotel offers the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal while taking in the stunning surroundings.

Day 7 - The Queen's Route (Geiranger to Ålesund)

Get ready for the last and most beautiful leg of your journey, a 119 km long biking road with stunning views of natural and cultural landscapes that Norway has to offer. The ferry ride on the Geirangerfjord is a breathtaking experience that will take you through waterfalls and mountain hamlets.
After reaching Hellesylt, the next part of the journey is the beautiful landscape of Norangsdalen, also known as the Queen's Route, with its narrow valley full of cultural memories. The Hjørundfjord is a retreat for adventure seekers and leisure travelers alike, with its jagged peaks of the Sunmøre Alps and narrow valleys.
After reaching Ålesund, check in to Hotel Brosundet and enjoy a great dinner with the team, rounding up an awesome week on the Norwegian west coast.

Day 8 - Ålesund - the Adventure Capital of the Fjords
The last day of your trip may mark the end of the cycle route, but it doesn't mean the adventure is over! Ålesund, the Art Nouveau-inspired town, offers plenty of exciting activities to keep you entertained. Take a leisurely walk in the charming town center, visit the locals in Seal Bay at Ålesund Aquarium, or explore the city's sound by kayaking. For the more adventurous, hop on a RIB boat and head to the puffin bird island of Runde for an unforgettable experience. Ålesund is the adventure capital of the fjords, and there's no shortage of options to extend your adventure in this beautiful town.
