Today starts with a gentle cycling route, passing the view of picturesque Oksevåg on the other side of the fjord.
Next, a climbing section awaits with 250 meters of elevation gain over 5 km. The ease of the ride from there depends on the wind direction. Here, at this altitude, there is no vegetation to shield you from the wind, and you are fully exposed to the natural elements, giving a feeling of cycling through a lunar landscape.
Eventually, the sea comes back into view, and the road descends toward Mehamn after 26 km. It´s several places to get lunch here before continuing cycling towards Slettnes. On the way you can stop by in Gamvik and buy what you need at Gamvik Handel. You can stay the night at the lighthouse. It´s limited spaces, so make sure to prebook. There is hotel and other accommodations in Mehamn. The ship leaves from Mehamn at 7:15 PM, so it´s also possible continue with the ship the same evening, if you skip Slettnes or cycle back and forth the same day.
