This beautiful cycling tour begins in Sandvika, idyllically located by the fjord. From here, the route follows the Sandvikselva River over the iconic Løkke Bridge. The climb then begins and continues for about 4 kilometers. At the medieval Tanum Church, you’ve reached the top. Here, the asphalt ends and the gravel path continues through open farmland and meadows. At Ringi Farm, the apple trees grow densely, and there is a farm shop selling delicious apple juice, with benches offering a lovely view – just follow the signs to Ringi Eplepresse.
As the landscape transitions into Vestmarka, you’ll encounter more forest, lakes, and a few new climbs. There are several nice places to stop and rest. The forest cafés Furuholmen and Gupu Gård serve homemade food and are usually open two to three days a week. Around Gupu, you’ll also find shelters and fire pits for a relaxing break. Most of the gravel roads are in good condition, though there are a few short stretches of steeper, rocky trails where some may prefer to walk the bike.
The lake at Sem is filled with several places to eat, drink, swim and relax. Try the food at NaKuHel Smia or Bryggerhuset. At Øvre Sem Farm you can have Sunday Brunch in the summer and stay the night. The Barnshop is open weekdays with local produces arts & crafts. A real gem is the Bergvang Open Farm with a lot of animals, cafe and farm shop in the weekends. The last stretch of the tour is on bikelanes downhill towards Asker, where this tour ends. Here you can cycle back to Sandvika on the Coastal Route, take the train from Asker station, or continue on the next farmround to Lier.
