Cycling in Finnskogen will give you a unique opportunity to get close to nature. Here you can expect to see moose and maybe hear the wolf howl in the distance. The gravel roads crisscross in this historic area. There are few people here, so the area is suitable for those who want to experience the tranquility of the forest.

When spring reaches Finnskogen, this mythical forest area comes to life. It may take some time for the gravel roads to be free of snow, but when summer finally arrives, there are many opportunities for nice bike rides. Here, the quiet and peaceful nature is the main attraction. In addition to a wild animal life, there are plenty of blueberries that can be picked and enjoyed everywhere. Fishing waters and bathing spots appear regularly.

Finnskogen is an important area both historically and culturally, and it represents a unique part of the Norwegian-Swedish cultural heritage. The area is also a popular destination for those who want to experience untouched nature and delve into an exciting history with roots back to Finnish immigrants and their way of life.

Through Finnskogen, you can follow the Wilderness Route – the national cycling route marked with red 9 signs. Along the way, you can stay at charming farms, inns, hotels, cabins, and shelters. A little planning is important since there can be long distances between eateries and shops along the way.

Around Gravberget Farm in the northern part, there are several opportunities for day trips, and along the Kynna River, several beautiful campsites have been established, well-suited for grilling and swimming. From Finnskogtoppen SPA in the east, you can cycle around Lake Røgden and to the small village of Svullrya. In the southern part, you´ll find Magnor Glassworks and the border site Morokulien. It is easy to combine cycling across the border between Norway and Sweden.

Train:
Train from Oslo to Kongsvinger. No reservation for bikes - you buy ticket on the train.
Train from Oslo to Hamar. Connecting bus to Elverum and Trysil. Bikes can be taken on the bus if there is space. The driver decides. Avoid rush hour.
