Small villages, hilly farmland and coastal beauty

Hurum is an attractive destination for cycling, offering a mix of scenic coastal routes, forest paths, and country roads. The peninsula’s location between the Oslofjord and Drammensfjord provides stunning views and diverse terrain.

During the summer, a boat runs from Oslo to Filtvet Pier, making it a perfect starting point for cycling. Don’t miss the lighthouse and the charming waterfront restaurant before heading to Tofte, an old industrial town rich in workers’ history. In Tofte Harbor, you’ll find Roald Amundsen’s polar ship, Maud. The ship has a long and interesting history. It was submerged for 80 years before it was raised again and brought back to Norway 2018.

The village of Holmsbu is beautifully located by the Drammensfjord, known for its white houses, cozy eateries, shops, and a beach hotel. About 3 km from Holmsbu is Rødtangen, a popular camping and cabin area with rocky shores, a lighthouse, and a small marina. Many local farms in Hurum have farm shops where you can buy fresh produce, meat, fruits, and herbs. Some even offer farm cafes with homemade dishes, especially in the summer and on weekends.

For peaceful gravel road cycling, Hurum’s forest area offers a tranquil escape, while road cyclists can enjoy the well-known “Hurum Round,” a long-distance favorite.
