East of Oslo you find Østmarka – a very popular recreational area. The forest is hilly, with a lot of small and large lakes to rest or take a bath.

For many people, Østmarka is their “backyard” so be prepared for pedestrians. When you get further into to forest, there will be fewer people, and also more narrow trails.

One of the best mountain bike tracks in Østmarka is called Pioneren. The trail is well-maintained and just minutes from downtown on the metro. It´s medium challenging with some more challenging parts. If you want less or more challenging routes there is a lot to choose from in Østmarka.

Have lunch or coffe at Rustadsaga, Mariholtet, Skullerudstua or Vangen. Check out the mtbmap.no for a more detailed map.
