Liv, you have extensive experience cycling in the Nordic countries. What’s important to consider when packing for a bike tour?

The key is being prepared for changing weather, especially in the mountains, along the coast, and further north. Even though it can be warm and pleasant in summer, the weather can change quickly. That’s why you need to pack for both warm, cold, and wet conditions. Our packing list is designed for those staying indoors and who want to travel light. With this list, there’s no need for baggage transport, and you’re ready for both day trips and multi-day tours.

What’s the key to packing correctly?

It’s about balance. You want to bring everything you need, but not too much. We focus on the essentials so that you can enjoy your trip without unnecessary weight. It gives an incredible sense of freedom when you have exactly what you need with you.

What are your thoughts on clothing?

The layer principle is very practical. You should have a good shell jacket, warm shirts, and something waterproof. Even on a warm summer day, the temperature can drop in the mountains, and it’s good to be prepared. But remember that it also needs to be comfortable for cycling, so bring lightweight clothing for warmer days too.

What tools and equipment should you always have with you?

A simple repair kit with a bike pump, patch kit, and a multitool is essential. If you run into a problem on the road, it’s important to be able to fix it yourself. Additionally, you should have lights for your bike, a reflective vest for tunnels or night riding, and a basic first aid kit.

I see you’ve included a power bank on the list. Why is it necessary to bring one?

A power bank ensures that you can keep your phone or bike lights charged. Navigation apps can drain your battery quickly, so it’s always important to have a power bank and charging cable.

Finally, what should you absolutely not forget?

Your helmet!

Thanks for the helpful tips, Liv!

You’re welcome, and enjoy your ride!
