Practical Info
This Hardanger Fjord Bicycle Tour offers a breathtaking journey through some of Norway’s most stunning landscapes, showcasing magnificent views of fjords, mountains, and glaciers. As you pedal along, you’ll experience these awe-inspiring sights in a leisurely and immersive manner.
The adventure begins with a scenic train ride from Bergen to Voss, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. Hardanger is renowned for being Norway’s primary source of fruits and berries, and your route will take you through picturesque fruit farms. Early summer reveals a burst of colorful blooms, while late summer and fall provide the opportunity to purchase fresh fruit from farm stands by simply leaving your payment in a box.
The tour runs on charming roads with very little traffic, but also on roads with more traffic. You’ll encounter rolling hills, traverse alongside majestic fjords, and even cross via ferry, providing moments of relaxation to soak in the fjord’s breathtaking views. Additionally, you’ll have the thrilling opportunity to pedal across the newly constructed, jaw-dropping Hardanger Fjord Bridge. The tour concludes in the quaint village of Rosendal, where we highly recommend a visit to the historic Barony to round off your memorable journey. From Rosendal the Hardanger Fjord Express offers a great sea voyage back to Bergen. Part of the tour follows Norwegian Scenic Route Hardanger.
The tour is not available for last minute bookings. It must be booked minimum 30 days prior to departure.
This trip can be extended with the tour in Sunnhordland for a 11-day cycling trip. You start with this tour (individual arrival Bergen, train from Bergen to Voss) and continue with the Sunnhordland tour. To book this combined tour, please send us an e-mail at info@norwaybybike.com.
Bergen is known as the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway, and as both a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, it offers a unique mix of stunning nature, fascinating history, and vibrant urban life throughout the year. Strolling through Bryggen, the old Hanseatic Wharf with its colorful wooden houses, you’ll experience a medieval atmosphere that still lingers among the small museums, shops, cafés, and restaurants found there today.
From the city center, you can take the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen in just a few minutes. The ride rewards you with panoramic views over Bergen, and once at the top you’ll find hiking trails, a cozy café, and plenty of opportunities for memorable photos. At the heart of the city lies the Fish Market, which has been a lively meeting place since the 1200s. Here you can sample fresh seafood and Norwegian specialties such as salmon or king crab, while also browsing local delicacies, fruit, and souvenirs. After your day of exploring, you will spend the night at Zander K Hotel in Bergen.

Hello! The bycicle supplier, very good and accomodating. The hotels at Voss and Hardanger, very nice, good food, excelent location The Brakanes hotel, not so nice, food just ok, too many tour buses. I would definetly change it. The app with the route, not too good. But overall, a really nice tour that we really enjoyed. I would recommended, but if the hotel could be changed, even more.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us via Norway by Bike.
We understand that summer, especially July, has become an exceptionally busy period for tourism in Norway, with visitor numbers increasing significantly over the past 2–3 years. While this growth is positive in many ways, it can make conditions less ideal for cyclists.
We are truly sorry to hear about your experience with the hotel in Ulvik. Unfortunately, there is currently no better accommodation option in that location, and we would prefer not to change the program. However, based on your valuable feedback, we have decided not to offer this tour in July going forward, in order to avoid the peak tourist bus season in the area and create a better experience for our future guests.
Best regards Hilde/Discover Norway.
Once again, thank you for helping us improve our tours.
Its a very nice expirence, nice views, we love the Apple Farms and all Fyords.
