Say goodby to Stavern and continue on the new cycle lane out of town. Several camping sites and beaches are just short detours away. Nevlunghavn – an old fishing village with narrow streets and white wooden houses, has a patisserie with wonderful baked goods. Take a trip down to the pier where perhaps seafood tempts you at the harbour. The summer exhibition in the old Shrimp Factory is also highly recommended.
The next stop is Helgeroa – another cozy village at this seaside. Note: From Helgeroa you may jump on the summer boat to Langesund, which will shorten the daytrip by 44 km. This is highly recommended. See information about the ferry If you however take the long route, the next stretch is along a road with some traffic for a few kilometers. From Langangen it´s a really steady climb up before downhill to Eidanger. In this area there is a lot of road constructions going on. When you get down to the fjord, it´s easy cycling along the coast – passing the small towns of Brevik, over the bridge to Stathelle, before you end in Langesund.
Langesund is a pleasant little coastal town with several options of accommodations close by. The summer concerts at Wrightegaarden is very famous and popular. You may also want to cycle out to Tangen Fort – a nature reserve with some great viewpoints and a lot of war history.
