
The ride from Bodø to Saltstraumen is a scenic out-and-back route along quiet coastal roads. The first part follows a good cycle path, before continuing on small roads with light traffic and great views of the sea and surrounding mountains.
The terrain is gently rolling with a few longer climbs, adding some variation to the ride. As you approach Saltstraumen, traffic increases slightly due to visitors, but drivers are generally considerate.
The highlight is reaching Saltstraumen itself, where powerful tidal currents create an impressive natural spectacle. Combined with the open coastal landscape, this makes for a memorable and rewarding ride.

The harbourside of Bodø is lively with restaurants and great views towards the sea and mountains in the distance.

After 18 km the bay at Tverlandet has a store and gas station where you can get a coffee and a bun.

The road along the seaside is beautiful and it´s a nice resting place at Godøystraumen.

Saltstraumen is the world’s strongest tidal current, located just outside Bodø. Every six hours, massive volumes of water are forced through the narrow strait, creating powerful whirlpools and an impressive natural spectacle.
