Coastal cycling from Stavanger to Tungenes Lighthouse and Kvitsøy Island.

This beautiful ride from Stavanger combines lakes, farmland, great views and open coastline. Add a ferry trip to include the Kvitsøy Island. Starting from Stavanger through Eiganes you pass attractive residential areas close to Mosvatnet before reaching Store Stokkavannet. This is one of Stavanger’s most popular recreational areas, known for its rich birdlife and peaceful surroundings. Stavanger Golf Club lies along the lakeshore. The route continues towards Hålandsvatnet on good gravel roads through open agricultural landscapes, offering relaxed and pleasant cycling.

At Vistnes, the sea comes into view and the Vistestranden beach marks the start of a scenic coastal stretch. The road follows the shoreline and pass the inviting beach at Sandesanden before reaching Tungenes Lighthouse, set at the very edge of the North Sea. From Mekjarvik ferry quay you can take the 35-minute boat trip to the island of Kvitsøy, a small and charming community with white-painted houses, beaches, maritime history and sweeping views from the top of Kvitsøy Traffic Control Centre. There is a store on the island. Returning to the mainland, the ride back to Stavanger follows paths and dedicated cycleways. Some industry area along the way back to Stavanger.
