Nordmarka is a fantastic outdoor area north of Oslo with big forests, nice mountain bike trails, gravel roads and idyllic lakes for swimming. It is easy to get here by train, subway and bus from central Oslo.

One of the most popular routes are the gravel route to Kikut – called “Ring 4”. It´s a little challenging uphill, but you get rewarded with a coffe and “bolle” at the cabin and a beautiful downhill back to the city.

The forest is full of good gravel roads that can take you for hours and hours into the wilderness, but there is also more narrow trails to explore. The area is perfect for camping or you can spend the night at one of the cabins Kikutstua or Kobberhaughytta.

Have lunch or coffe at Kikutstua, Skjennungstua, Ullevålseter, Kobberhaughytta or Frognerseteren. Check out the mtbmap.no for a more detailed map.
