Set on an old railway bridge high above the famous salmon river Namsen, this is one of Norway’s most original places to stay.
The Trøndelag Grand Tour cycling route passes directly by, making it a perfect and memorable stop for touring cyclists. Guests stay in restored vintage train carriages placed along the 180-metre-long bridge, with panoramic views upstream and downstream along the river. From this elevated position, you can enjoy the open landscape and flowing water – often with fewer insects than down by the riverbanks.
Meals are served on site, and the experience is as much about slowing down as it is about comfort and atmosphere. From your carriage, you can watch salmon rise in the river during summer, or simply take in the peaceful surroundings. Boats can be rented for those who want to try their luck fishing, and the riverbank is just a short walk away. Sleeping above one of Norway’s best salmon rivers, surrounded by history, nature, and gentle railway nostalgia, makes this a truly special place to stay.
Please note that overnight stays and meals must be booked in advance, as availability may be limited. Scheduled stays can occasionally coincide with private events, and during quieter periods there may be no staff on site at all times. Visitors who are simply curious are still welcome to stop by for a short visit. It is possible to walk out onto the bridge to see the train carriages and enjoy the views, and to take a break with your own packed lunch if you wish.
