An easy, gentle ride through forest and farmland leads to the seaside town of Namsos — a place of timber heritage, rock music history, and coastal charm, where the journey ends by the sea.

Leaving Giltelvhytta, the ride begins through peaceful forest on gravel tracks, making for an easy and enjoyable start. A highlight along the way is a small wooden shelter overlooking the river Sandåa – a perfect spot to pause, though you’ll need to hop off your bike and climb a short slope to find it. It’s worth the detour for the view.

As you approach the main road, the landscape opens into farmland and cultivated fields. The route feels more settled here, with traces of everyday rural life. Further along the shoreline, the Norwegian Sawmill Museum lies beautifully situated by the sea, connecting the ride with the region’s strong timber traditions.

Namsos itself makes for a welcoming destination, a friendly small town with plenty of character, known for it´s long rock music history. There’s a good bakery, several places to eat, shops and hotels here. The waterfront is especially pleasant for a stroll or a spin along the quayside. Namdalsmuseet is an open air museum just outside city center with old wooden buildings from the area. A short hike to the local mountain Klompen offers at great view. The ride today is short and easy. Namsos is located by the sea and the high-speed ferry can take you to some of the islands close by.
