Cycle to the northernmost lighthouse on the mainland – in the world!
From Mehamn the ride is not to long in kilometers, but how hard it feels depends on the wind. This open landscape has little vegetation to shelter from natures forces, but this is also the spectacular thing beeing so far north. It´s also some hills to be prepared for. Reindeers is a very common sight. In Gamvik you can buy what you need at local store, if you didn´t fill up in Mehamn.
The last stretch to Slettnes Lighthouse is on gravel. The accomodations here needs to be prebooked – it´s limited room. See more info: Slettnes Lighthouse. From the top of the lighthouse the sea view is endless. The surroundings is part of Slettnes Nature Reserve, with bird life all around. Stay on the hiking path to take care of the nature. Take the same route back to Mehamn.
