Cycling from Stavanger to Bergen is a varied and rewarding ride through coastal Norway.
The journey starts with a peaceful ferry across Boknafjorden, gliding past small islands and quiet inlets. From Nedstrand, the route winds through gently rolling hills, farmland, and forest, with low traffic and a few scenic stops along the way. The pace is relaxed, and there’s time to enjoy the surroundings — whether it’s a lakeside break, a historic lock, or a stretch of quiet road through the countryside.
As you move north, the landscape shifts. Between Haugesund and Stord, you’ll pass Viking monuments, WWII landmarks, and climb into a more open, rugged terrain with heath-covered hills and views toward the sea. There are some climbs, but they come with winding descents and great outlooks. After another ferry crossing, the final stretch brings you along lakes and quiet paths before you roll into Bergen, finishing the tour right at the historic Bryggen waterfront.
